In 1978, Elementi Kindergarten was established in Shaukiwan, Hong Kong’s East District, providing families with quality early childhood education. With a dedicated team of teachers, we adopted an integrated teaching approach, continuously refined and diversified our curriculum, and developed creative tools and learning materials to support children’s growth.
In 1995, our first Shaukiwan campus on Oi-Man Street was given the opportunity to relocate to accommodate expansion. With the strong support of Mr. Cheung Kam Tim, M.B.E., Chairman of the Shaukiwan Kai Fong Welfare Community Centre, and the guidance of Mrs. To Chan Wai Yee, Elementi’s founder, the school successfully transitioned into a non-profit-making kindergarten.
The new campus offered a spacious learning environment and excellent facilities, benefiting children and parents in the Shaukiwan community. It also marked the beginning of focused training for our educators and the full implementation of engaging teaching and learning activities designed specifically for children. At that time, the Project Approach was still relatively new, allowing us to explore innovative ways to nurture curiosity and meaningful learning.
Aligned with Chairman Cheung’s spirit of giving back to society, the kindergarten was later renamed as Shaukiwan Kai Fong Welfare Community Centre Cheung Kam Tim Memorial Kindergarten on 1 August 2013—a heartfelt tribute to Mr. Cheung Kam Tim’s significant contributions to Hong Kong’s preschool education service.
