With the population growth at the turn of the millennium, many families sought more comfortable living conditions and better educational opportunities for their children. As a result, more new-generation nuclear families moved to the North District of the New Territories, attracted by the spacious living environment and its fresh air.
In 1999, several large-scale housing estates were developed in Fanling, New Territories. To meet the needs of young families, Dawning Views Elementi English Kindergarten & International Preschool was established in 2000. From the very beginning, our campus stood out with its distinctive and innovative design. We provided creative, high-quality small-class English teaching within the community. At the same time, we integrated the Montessori English Teaching Method into our curriculum.
Grounded in Montessori principles, our approach aims to foster children’s self-discipline, enabling them to complete meaningful tasks independently with care and attention. Our former Principal and Supervisor, Ms. Wendy Yip Wai Yee, opened a new chapter for Elementi by introducing Montessori teaching to the school and dedicating herself to supporting and training our teachers. She encouraged teachers to apply what they learned while emphasizing life skills development.
Both teachers and parents were also inspired to make use of recycled materials to create Montessori teaching resources—materials that can be adapted across different learning areas and domains.
This early stage became an important milestone in the development of Elementi’s curriculum and identity.
